This is what did tonight: went to good ol’ Cracker Barrel.(not my idea…)

Oh man. Cracker Barrel. It’s not the worst but it’s most certainly not my favorite…I am in
middle of nowhere Warner Robbins, GA for the night on business after attending a nutrition peer education training session (it was actually pretty amazing!) and so what were our options for dinner around our hotel? Let’s see….McDonalds (aka death), Olive Garden (not many options for a GF gal like me…carbs out the BUTT), Panera Bread (no one wanted to go there cept me), Steak N Shake, Buffalo Wild Wings, Sonic, Wendy’s, basically if its a chain its here. So we decided on Cracker Barrel which is always an interesting experience. Lucky for us, there are many more nutritious foods there than I thought there would be. They have a section of the menu called “Wholesome Fixin’s” which are all under 600 calories, and they have the calorie count for a majority of the menu items which is useful (but also can be misleading…that’s a post for another day). The menu is huge so of course it took me like a freaking hour to decide what I wanted (breakfast or dinner? chicken or fish? or just veggies?) but ultimately I ended up getting a summer special of seasoned chicken, corn, tomato, onions, and carrots that came in tinfoil (lol) to “keep the juices”. It was aight (shoulda gone with the scrambled eggs honestly…always a safe option). I drooled as I watched Dorothy eat her pancakes which I haven’t been able to indulge in in years. But, hey! It was a bleh fun experience. Here are some tips in case you want to eat healthy when going out to eat or going to a not so healthy restaurant:
