Breakfast: 1 cup of gluten free granola from trader joes + half banana + unsweetened vanilla almond milk (oh and of course some coffee….obviously)
Snack before I went on a long run: delicious fresh mango slices with spicy cinnamon (and a few crystallized ginger pieces not shown–they’re so good for digestion)
I did a (slow) steady 6 mile run to try and start my training for the AthHalf Marathon in October. This will be the second time I’m running it (and 3rd half marathon overall) so I’m excited to try and beat my old time! I’m definitely not in the best running shape yet so I took a few walking breaks and had a steady slower pace but overall did fine for my first longer-than-3-mile run in a while. I ran from my house to these running trails in the woods on campus and then back home. And damn, it was hot out! This app is the bomb for tracking runs–it’s called Endomondo and it is free from the app store. Usually the calories burned on this app is a little high (I usually burn approx. 100-150 calories per mile so it is close). For that reason, I always wear my Polar FT7 Fitness watch the track calories burned as well, but can’t find my heart rate monitor strap at the moment (ahhh!!!!). When I got back I chuggggged some ice cold water and wanted to replenish some salt lost and some carbs + protein (best within 30 mins for optimal recovery) so I ate this fresh DANK gluten free muffin I bought from the Dekalb Farmers Market (aka heaven on earth) made with chia seed flour, brown rice flour, currants, walnuts, pumpkin seeds, and more. IT. WAS. SO. DELICIOUS. Hard not to eat like 3 of them….
Later in the day I took my dog Luna over to meet some friends by a river here in Athens which was a great way to end the day. Then my close friend Charmaine came over and we enjoyed some red wine and the movie “The Delivery Man”. I also snacked on some carrots and waited to eat dinner after the movie.
After the movie, I was exhausted and didn’t feel like cooking but was soooo hungry (um hello that 6 miler revved my appetite) so Nathan and I decided to get Buy one get one free Brixx pizza. I got the gluten free Wood Roasted Vegetable and it was amazing!
(I def ended up eating 5 pieces–I needed the calories!)
